This sounds like a great program. The Women's Foundation of Palm Beach County has launched the Women on the Run program which aims to teach women how to run for elected office or become community leaders. One of the co-founders explains the importance of women in positions of power by stating, “When more women are sitting at the policy table, they become visible, valued and heard. We need women’s voices in the policy arena.” Though this is the third time the program will run, it's the first that will last for a full year. Activities will include sessions where women can network and learn from mentors about necessary skills like fundraising and campaigning. And the attendees will get together periodically throughout the term to give updates, share lessons learned, and continue being coached. Previous participants report learning about the political process as well as building valuable relationships.
