The Delray Miracle League, which holds games every Saturday afternoon in Robert P. Miller Park, gives dozens of special needs athletes an opportunity to participate in the sport they love. The league holds events on a specially-built baseball diamond built by the Kadel family that features ramps and rubber padding for wheelchair users. The games are noncompetitive, and every player gets a chance to hit and have fun. There’s even a cheerleading squad that features a mix of special needs participants and community volunteers.
The Miracle League serves a great need for the Palm Beach County community. Many young people are unable to participate in sports with their peers because of physical disabilities, and the League offers them an inclusive environment where they can play around and feel celebrated. The Kadel family’s initiative is just one example of the neighborly spirit and generosity that make Palm Beach such a wonderful place to live.
