A growing number of students in South Carolina, and Charleston in particular, will be well-prepared for college if Advanced Placement testing is any indication. A record 26,657 high school seniors took AP exams in 2015, and more than 10% notched the highest possible score. Several Charleston County high schools placed particularly well among state schools. Wando and Academic Magnet led the area with 81% of AP tests taken resulting in a score ranging from 3 to 5. A 3 or above allows a student to receive college credit from an AP course.
